I really feel for this lady. First of all, I would absolutely stop eating after 6:00 pm. This will give you time to digest your dinner and make sure that when you lie down to go to sleep that your stomach is relatively empty to avoid the reflux. Also a full stomach makes it more difficult to breath so eat smaller portions when you do eat. Secondly, start a regular exercise program. I know that this person is way overweight maybe even obese. When it comes to life or death choices, you really don't have a choice except to be in the base shape of your life. Because this is a breathing pathology (asthma) you must start very slow with only walking, being carefull to not induce an asthma attack. You should not use you asthma as an excuse to not exercise though. Next, invest in an air purifier for home and get rid of any carpets and drapes. If you have indoor pets, you should vacuum everyday. If moving away from the papermill is at all possibe, do it as soon as possible. This lady still has plenty of options and I'm disappointed that better advice was not dispensed to her in this interview.
