- Barrett, I had a question for you since we have you, and there may be young people listening, and certainly parents. People, both kids – and I have three little kids – and parents want to think that their child can compete and, I guess, what would you say to them to really say that in spite of asthma, with a proper management, that they can?
- Barrett:
- I’ve been diagnosed since I was 5 years old, so the last 13 years I’ve lived with it, and I’ve played every sport under the sun, from soccer to baseball, and currently I just swim and I run track. But just through those constant, persistent taking of the medications, I’m able to manage it enough that I can compete and usually don’t have to stop and get out and wait in the middle of exercises or stuff like that, but I’m able to just participate and just have fun with the sports. It’s been real great that I’ve been able to do that, and I really think the only thing that’s let me do that is my consistent taking of the medications. When I was younger, I sort of slacked off, and I could really see it was a lot harder for me to breathe and do stuff when I was in my early teens. And then I decided to actually start really aggressively taking my medicines, and it has really helped and really aided in my athletics.

- Well, that’s a wonderful testimonial and I think a great example for kids who may be listening and comfort for parents who can help children stay on those medications.
